Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This privacy policy explains how Nordic Appworks ("we", "us") handles information in the UpdateMonitor Android app (package name app.updatemonitor.mobile) and on the website updatemonitor.app.
In short: the app works completely offline. Everything it records stays on your device. We do not collect, sell or share personal data, and the app contains no ads, analytics or tracking.
1. Data processed by the app
UpdateMonitor keeps a history of the apps on your own device. It stores the following information only locally on your device:
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Installed apps: name, package name, version name and code, install source (for example Google Play Store), install and update times | Showing which apps were updated, installed or removed, and when | Until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app |
| The runtime and special-access permissions each app requests | Showing which permissions an app gained or lost with an update | Until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app |
| Total and free space of the phone's internal storage, with one figure per day | Showing how much storage is used and how that changed over the past week (can be hidden in the settings; needs no extra permission) | Daily figures are kept for 7 days |
| App settings (for example whether the welcome screen was shown) | Remembering your choices | Until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app |
The app does not request internet access, so it cannot send this data anywhere. Its data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, so it is not copied to your Google account either. We have no access to it.
2. Export
If you choose to export your history as a CSV or PDF file, the app creates the file on your device and opens Android's share menu. You decide where the file goes. UpdateMonitor never sends the file anywhere by itself.
3. Permissions
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: to see all installed apps, their versions and requested permissions. This is the core function of the app. The app explains this on first launch, before it reads the app list.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: to show a summary when apps change. Notifications are off by default; the app only asks for this permission when you turn them on in its settings.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: to keep the periodic check scheduled after the device restarts.
4. Website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages and does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site; see GitHub's privacy statement.
The "Buy me a coffee" button is a plain link to buymeacoffee.com; nothing from Buy Me a Coffee is loaded until you open that link. Support you give there is handled under Buy Me a Coffee's privacy policy.
If you send a message through the contact form, your email address and message are delivered to us through Formspree and are used only to answer your question.
5. Deleting your data
You can delete all app data at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android's settings or by uninstalling the app. To have a message you sent us deleted, contact us through the form below.
6. Children
UpdateMonitor is not directed at children and we do not knowingly process data about children.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
